The BIO HOTELS Richtlinien und Standards page and the 2009 Statuten und Richtlinien document contain no criterion addressing filtration, ventilation rate or fresh air supply, carbon dioxide, volatile organic compound or particulate measurement, mould inspection and remediation, or combustion sources inside the building envelope.

Water appears only as a consumption criterion, quoted here, which in English requires that water saving systems are installed or are taken into account with every new purchase. It is mandatory. The document contains nothing on water source, treatment train, filtration specification at building or room level, tested contaminant panels, pool or spa chemistry, or how drinking water reaches the guest. A search of the published criteria returns no occurrence of Trinkwasser.

The only lighting related criteria are the daylight and blackout requirements for event rooms under the Green Meeting heading, quoted here, which in English require a separate event room with daylight and a blackout capability. These apply only to hotels holding the Green Meeting designation and only to meeting rooms, not to sleeping areas. The document contains nothing on circadian or tunable lighting, colour temperature by time of day, flicker performance, blackout in guest bedrooms, daylight access in guest rooms, or exterior light discipline.

The BIO HOTELS Richtlinien und Standards page and the 2009 Statuten und Richtlinien document contain no criterion addressing electromagnetic fields, Elektrosmog, radiofrequency exposure, wired versus wireless network topology, shielded cabling, demand switches, field measurement in sleeping areas, or router placement. A search of the published criteria returns no occurrence of Elektrosmog, elektromagnetisch, Strahlung or WLAN; the only wireless reference on the page is W-Lan listed as required meeting room equipment.

This is the only standard in the matrix that regulates mattress composition as a mandatory condition. The criterion quoted here requires natural latex mattresses or similar ecological alternatives, and is compulsory at the next replacement. Textiles are covered by a separate criterion requiring ecological home textiles such as organic cotton or linen for bed linen, towels and table linen, and rented laundry must use a service washing with biodegradable detergents. Paints and plasters must follow ecological building standards, flooring must be stone, tile, wood or ecological carpet, and cleaning throughout must use ecological, biodegradable products. No named emission test method is specified, no flame retardant criterion appears, and no textile certification scheme such as GOTS is named.

This is the strongest food criterion set in the matrix. The criterion quoted here requires exclusively certified organic produce, regionally sourced as far as possible, under unbroken control by state authorised organic inspection bodies. Beverages must also be certified organic with a maximum of three exceptions, the wine list must be 100 percent organic with a maximum of two exceptions clearly labelled to the guest, deep sea fish must carry certified provenance, and microwave ovens are prohibited for heating or cooking. On site growing is addressed only as a certification condition on the hotel's own herb and fruit garden. The document contains nothing on cookware, cooking oil type, water used for ice, allergens or seed oils.

Natural material contact is addressed through the renovation criterion, which requires ecological materials and gives preference to untreated wood, and the grounds must be maintained ecologically, as quoted here. The document contains nothing on direct nature access from guest rooms, views, outlook or prospect, spatial volume or ceiling height, or publication of design intent.
